| Video: Audi R8 gets a photo shoot date with some gorgeous women Posted: 05 Jun 2011 05:00 AM PDT
We knew there was something special about the Audi R8. It’s not because it’s the fastest Audi on the market, nor is it because it’s made a number of appearances in some of the biggest movie blockbusters of the past few years - Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen come to mind. The Audi R8 is one special cat because somehow, through whatever it does or doesn’t do, it gets the attention of the ladies. More importantly, bikini-clad vixens at that. This three-minute video clearly demonstrates the intoxicating allure of the R8 to the opposite sex, one that doesn’t go unnoticed by strapping, young lads like us. It was created by Tuan Hong for his buddy Kirby - my namesake! - who was doing a photo shoot on the R8 and its groupies and it just goes to show just how much attention this Audi supercar can get without even trying. Kind of makes us wish we had one to take to the beach with us because apparently, where the R8 goes, smoking hot women follow. | The Schumacher Mi3: the fastest remote-controlled car in the world Posted: 04 Jun 2011 11:00 PM PDT Remote-controlled cars - R/Cs for short - are one of those toys that never get old for us car-loving wackos. For a man like Nic Case - not to be confused for Nic Cage - R/C cars are more than just toys; they’re a calling. The man’s obsession with these cars is no more evident than in his continued attempt to build the fastest and most powerful car in the world. A few years ago, Case and his very own Schumacher Mi3 set the world record for being the fastest remote-controlled car on the planet, doing so after posting a staggering top speed of 161.76 mph. The Schumacher Mi3, a rocket-looking, streamlined bullet, took Case six months to build where he spent over $4,000 to pay for all the components. After all the work put in, the record-holding R/C car was outiftted with a handcrafted carbon-fiber chassis while being powered by an 11-horsepower motor and a 12-cell battery pack. As a man that never seems to be satisfied, Nic Case has his eyes set on building an R/C car that could hit 200 mph and is in the middle of building and developing his latest project, called the "Streamliner". If and when the "Streamliner" is built, we’re pretty confident that this existing record will completely fall by the wayside. For now, though, the Schumacher Mi3 sits as the fastest R/C car in the world. | 2011 F1 Game hits the world of 3D Posted: 04 Jun 2011 04:00 PM PDT The Nintendo 3DS is cool for a number of reasons. One, it’s hand-held, which means that you can play it anywhere and at anytime. Two, it’s the first hand-held video game unit that boasts of 3D technology, and those that have the 3DS have had nothing but praise for all the 3D awesomeness they enjoy. And now, die-hard fans of Formula One will be happy to know that F1 2011, the sequel to the BAFTA award-winning F1 2010 game, is getting prepped to have versions for both the 3DS and the Sony’s successor to the PSP, the NGP. The 3DS and the NGP joins the Playstation 3, the Xbox 360, and PC as available consoles where F1 2011 can be played in. As it stands, the game is scheduled to drop in stores starting September 20, 2011. While it should make for some pretty exciting racing with all these consoles, the 3DS version is what’s looking to be the most interesting of the lot. Watching a Formula One race in 3D is one thing, but actually playing a game that supports the same high-tech format is a completely different thing. As part of the game, players will be tasked to compete in a wide rage of competitive and co-operative multiplayer components, including a career mode that puts you in the driver seat of one of the fastest machines on the planet going nose-to-nose with the official teams and race drivers of the 2011 FIA F1 World Championship. Needless to say, the 3DS version of the 2011 F1 game is what’s getting us all geeked up about it. September can’t come soon enough, can it? 2011 F1 Game hits the world of 3D originally appeared on topspeed.com on Saturday, 4 June 2011 23:00 EST. |
| Video: Bugatti Veyron donut attempt gone wrong Posted: 04 Jun 2011 11:00 AM PDT
We know that it’s human nature to show off whatever kind of luxury vehicle you may have, but if the said ride is one Bugatti Veyron - you know, one of the fastest and most expensive cars in the world - we strongly urge anyone to exercise more caution before embarking on a dangerous stunt like this. But alas, no matter how much money is paid for the car, there’s still no price for lack of better judgment. As this video will show, the owner of this Veyron felt the need to start hot-dogging his prized car, attempting to do a donut in front of a crowd. However, in doing so, he must have forgotten that there was a tire wall not too far away, bringing his showboating to an abrupt end when the rear of the Veyron bumped into the tire wall. Way to go, pal! Now, the damage might not be that much considering he’s got the wad to pay for it, but we all know that maintenance and repairs for the Bugatti Veyron - however little they may be - don’t come cheap.
