Following Fifth Gear’s comparison of two of the most impressive supercars of the moment, Top Gear has taken their turn comparing the McLaren MP4-12C and the Ferrari 458 Italia. Considering that, at the MP4-12C’s official launch, the company announced that the MP4-12C was better than the 458 Italia in every mathematical way, this was a scenario that had to be put to the test. Do you think Jeremy Clarkson agrees with McLaren’s bold statement? Check out the video to find out! Short reminder: The MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers a total of 592 HP and 443 lb-ft. of torque, and will sprint the car to a top speed of 205 mph. The 458 Italia, on the other hand, is powered by a 4.5 Liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 570 HP. The Ferrari model can hit a top speed of 202 mph. | The $89K Bugatti Veyron Built by Hand Posted: 16 Jul 2011 11:00 PM PDT Driving a $1.7 million supercar is everyone’s dream, but few people in this world can actually have the pleasure of doing so. That being said, there are some people in the world that will do whatever it takes to make their dream a reality and Mike Duke from Florida is one of those people. Duke isn’t a millionaire, as far as we know, but the 25-year-old has some ambition and maybe even a future in the automotive industry after putting together a Bugatti Veyron using a Ford Cougar as a base. Duke’s makeshift supercar was hand-built piece by piece and although it doesn’t have any Bugatti badges and wheels that are a dead giveaway of its guise, the pretend Bugatti could probably fool enough women into thinking it was the real thing. Isn’t that a good enough reason for any 25-year-old to want a supercar? Of course, the crowd of women this vehicle will undoubtedly attract may shrink once they realize this "Bugatti" doesn’t carry its usual 1001 HP engine, but the original 2.5-liter unit. Talking about his project, Mike Duke said: ""I wanted the million-dollar look without the repair bills, insurance, and huge up-front cost. I’m very happy with the finished result and of course driving around in the car gets more comments than you could ever imagine." Nice job, Duke. Now start working on the 16-cylinder engine tp put under that hood and then you’ll be in business! | Posted: 16 Jul 2011 04:00 PM PDT Mansory typically provides its customers with some pretty cool tuning packages for their sports cars, but now the tuner has revealed a limited edition watch to add to their customers’ wish lists. Only 50 units of chronograph will be offered, and each of them will carry a price tag of € 8,900 (approx. $13,000 at the current exchange rates). Kourosh Mansory, CEO of the Mansory said: "The co-operation with GRAHAM-LONDON derives from my long-term friendship with Eric Loth, founder and board member of GRAHAM-LONDON. His passion for dynamic automobiles and my enthusiasm for high-quality chronographs are perfectly combined. The GRAHAM MANSORY Chronofighter Oversize confirms this in a very impressive way." The watch’s dial is made of carbon, a material typically used for sports cars. It also features a smoked see-through sapphire crystal with Mansory logo that provides an inside look to the clockwork Calibre G1734 with 48 hours power reserve. The black rubber strap is "Clous de Paris" and is decorated and adorned with the Graham and Mansory logos. Taking all the questions of parental responsibilities out of the equation, you have to give some props to this young 11-year old boy and his rather impressive skills in the art of hooning. As the video shows, this kid was given the chance to get behind the wheel of an Audi R8, probably with an adult’s consent considering that somebody had to hold that video camera as it was recording. A part of us is very impressed at the hooning skills of this young kid. There’s a good chance that he’s yet to hit puberty, but he’s already got his throttle-oversteering skills down pat. But as responsible adults, we couldn’t help but cringe at the sight of somebody so young doing something inherently dangerous as this. Heck, he didn’t even fasten his seatbelt before he started destroying those patches of grass. Sure, it’s an empty field, but a sense of responsibility should still be in play here. if you’re going to let somebody that young hoon a car like the R8, the least you can do is make sure that he’s got his seatbelt on. Better if you get inside the car with him. Best if you don’t let him do it at all. Other than that, sick skills, young buck!
