Video: Porsche 911 Carrera S vs Lotus Evora S

Posted: 22 May 2011 05:00 AM PDT

FifthGear went to the Assen TT circuit in the Netherlands and put together two of the most incredible sports cars to date - the Lotus Evora S and the Porsche Carrera S - for a little one on one action.

The Lotus Evora S is powered by a supercharged Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers a total of 350 HP and more than 300 lb-ft of torque. This means a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 172mph. On the other hand, the Porsche Carrera S is powered by a 3.8-liter power with an output of 385 HP and a top speed of 186 mph.

At first glance, the Carrera S seems to have a slight advantage, but who will stand up and fight against all odds? Watch the video to find out!

Mercedes Bike Selection

Posted: 21 May 2011 11:00 PM PDT

Somehow, we've gotten used to automakers releasing special edition bikes so it doesn't surprise us anymore when another brand comes out with their latest two-wheeled offerings.

We've seen Maserati, Audi, McLaren, Range Rover, Mini, and even Shelby come out with their own bicycles in the past few months, and now German automaker Mercedes is getting ready to jump on the bandwagon. Best of all for Merc, they're actually releasing a number of products instead of just one.

Some of the new products that have been released range from a full-suspension mountain bike to a high-end carbon fiber racing bike, to fitness bikes, and yes, even kid bikes with their own set of training wheels.

The full-suspension mountain bike weighs only 12.8 kilos and comes with a Fox Racing F32 RL suspension fork, a DT Swiss suspension strut, a 30-speed x.9 gear shift system from SRAM, hydraulic AVID Elixir 5 disc brakes, and DT Swiss X1900 wheels. All in all, the Mercedes mountain bike, and all the trinkets that come with it, will cost you an exorbitant sum of €3,299, which is about $4,650 based on current exchange rates.

Hit the jump for more of these two-wheeled creations.

This Has To Be The Ugliest Lamborghini Reventon Ever

Posted: 21 May 2011 04:00 PM PDT

What happens when people want a car so bad, but don’t have enough money to buy it? Well, they start building replicas. Sometimes these things go well, but most of the time they go horribly, horribly wrong. This Lamborghini Reventon is probably one of the more severe cases of instances when the result is one of the ugliest and most unsuccessful builds to date.

There’s a man over in China that drives an old Nissan A31, but his dream car has always been a Lamborghini Reventon. He eye-balled his Nissan and found ways to convert his daily driver into his version of a Reventon. We say his version because there was no way his $13,800 and his homemade parts could ever match the precision and quality of a true $2.3 million Lamborghini.

He started by buying a scale model of a Reventon and day by day, his 1995 Nissan A31 took on some replica parts and some homemade parts resembling the pieces from one of the most exclusive cars on Earth. He dropped in a Lamborghini RB25 engine and 12 days later, had himself what he calls his Lamborghini Reventon.

It’s sad. It’s just so sad.

Video: BMW RR vs. BMW M3

Posted: 21 May 2011 11:00 AM PDT

Does a BMW M3 get the lead during a race against the BMW S 1000 RR just because it has an extra two wheels? BMW Motorrad chose to tackle that question with a duel of sorts between Rico’s two-wheeled motorcycle and Nico’s luxury four-wheeled sports car.

Anyone prepared to watch the video should probably know that the 999 cc four cylinder inline engine found in the S 1000 RR and the 4.0 L V8 sitting snug in the BMW M3 were both given a proper tuning upgrade that added a new Akrapovnic exhaust system. This new exhaust provided both machines with a few extra HP. Another thing to know before watching is that each vehicle started the race on the opposite side of the other, hence the title, The Chase.

Any guesses on which beast caught up to the other? Watch the video to see for yourself.
