Do you want to win a Corvette Grand Sport?

Posted: 18 Jun 2011 05:00 AM PDT

With a starting price of $54,770, the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport isn’t exactly a vehicle that can be purchased by just anyone. However, if you are a US resident, Chevrolet is giving you the chance to win the American icon, along with a five day/four night trip to next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in France. They’ll even pay for the airfare for two, hotel accommodations, and an $800 travel allowance. Now that’s a contest we can get on board with!

We know it sounds a little sketchy, but Chevrolet is running the contest in recognition of Corvette Racing just winning the 24 hours of Le Mans. The best part is that the contest is pretty easy. All you have to do is click on the source link, answer three questions about Corvette Grand Sport - very simple ones like sprint time, HP, and weight - and then enter your personal information. The winner will be randomly selected on July 1st 2011 and will be notified by email or phone.

The only problem we see with this contest is that, because it’s so easy, many people will be put in the drawing to win the Corvette so you’re chances get slimmer with every click of someone else’s mouse.

Video: Ferrari 599 GTO vs Ferrari 458 Italia

Posted: 17 Jun 2011 11:00 PM PDT

Marchettino had the chance to catch two of the most impressive Ferraris in video as they were pitted up against each other, but not in your typical 0-60 mph fashion. These two supercars were battling it out to determine whose engine sounded better. Don’t worry though, you’ll still see some racing action.

IN the video, a white Ferrari 599 GTO and a red Ferrari 458 Italia are shown revving their engines, then accelerating and downshifting on the track!

The Ferrari 599 GTO is powered by a V12 engine delivering a total of 670 HP at 8250 rpm with a maximum torque of 620 Nm at 6500 rpm. It rockets the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.35 seconds, while top speed goes up to 208 mph. The Ferrari 458 Italia gets a 4.5 Liter V8 engine equipped with the traditional Ferrari flat crankshaft that produces 570 HP at a rather high 9000 RPM.

Which of the two engines do you think sounds better? Watch the video and decide for yourself!

TopSpeed Rendering: 2013 Lexus LF-A II

Posted: 17 Jun 2011 12:00 PM PDT

1.

A few days ago, some rumors about a second generation Lexus LF-A started to circulate on the internet. It could have been a passing whisper and it would have been all we needed to start dreaming about what this mode would look like. The rendering above is what we came up with.

Let’s face facts, the Lexus LF-A doesn’t exactly need any major changes, so it will pick up where the Lexus LF-A Nurburgring Package left off in terms of style and sport. Lexus will not be making any significant changes to the LFA, but we may see a new headlamps design, larger air intakes, a more discrete rear spoiler, and a slimmer profile.

In terms of power, the current V10 engine will be tricked to deliver more than 562 HP in order to significantly improve the car’s performance. This will mean that it could complete the 0-60 mph sprint in less than 3.7 seconds. Top speed should also exceed the Nurburgring model's 210 mph.

If the Lexus LFA II makes it to production, it will probably come out sometime in 2013 and will be offered as an expensive, limited edition.

Audi Q4

Posted: 17 Jun 2011 11:00 AM PDT

It seems that Audi is rather serious about expanding their SUV line-up. The current range includes the Q3, Q5, and Q7 models, and the company is preparing a Q6 to target the BMW X6 and the Q1 to do battle with the Mini Countryman. One would think that would be enough, but the company is apparently readying another model in the Q4 SUV. The model will be a direct competitor to the Range Rover Evoque and will actually be a sporty version of the Q5.

Not much has been said about the Q4, but it is definitely not a rumor. The SUV is already at the advanced concept stage at Audi's Ingolstadt R&D centre in Germany. It will be built on the same MLB platform as the Q5. The model will be a five-body SUV with design elements inspired by the A5 Sportback.

For the engine line-up, the company will offer a new 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 170 HP and 210 HP, as well as a 240 HP 3.0-liter V6 diesel. Petrol engines will include a 270 HP naturally aspirated 3.2-liter V6 and a 328 HP supercharged 3.0-liter V6 petrol. The latter engine will only be available in selected markets, including North America. A hybrid version will also be offered.

Expect this model to hit the market no earlier than 2015.

Ford GT by AE Performance

Posted: 17 Jun 2011 10:00 AM PDT

The Ford GT is one of those vehicles that is and always will be an American icon. Originally produced in 2005 and 2006, the GT drew inspiration from Ford’s classic GT40 race cars of the 1960s and had the 550 HP necessary coming out of its mid-mounted 5.4 L Modular V8 engine to back up the design. Ford has already talked about producing a second generation of the model, but until that happens, we will bide our time by finding true pieces of tuning art like AE Performance’s version of the Ford GT.

The full specs of the package have not been released as of yet, but we did get some pictures to drool over, as well as a few hints as to what we should expect. The Ford GT by AE will get an extra 130 HP to add to the mix, along with a new set of ADV.1 wheels and a discrete body kit. Surprisingly so, these pictures show that AE Performance has done away with the original’s racing stripes, but has left a vibrant candy apple red paint job to shut us up about it.

That’s it when it comes to details about the package as of right now, but already we would have to say that if the price is right, we’d take this version of the Ford GT over the Ferrari 458 Italia any day of the week. Hit us up with your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below.
