| Video: BMW 1M Coupe filmed drifting at the world's tallest helipad Posted: 03 Jul 2011 05:00 AM PDT
The 2012 BMW 1M Coupe really is on top of the world these days, isn’t it? Days after the car was featured on the pilot episode of the new season of Top Gear, BMW’s high-powered 1M found itself on top of one of the tallest buildings in America: the U.S. Bank Tower in Los Angeles. More important than that, the U.S. Bank Tower stands 1,018 feet tall and is considered as the tallest building in the world with a helipad on it. So what exactly is the 1M Coupe doing on the helipad of this skyscraper? Well, there’s awesome and then there’s awesome. This video of the 1M Coupe performing an arc drift on top of the world’s tallest helipad certainly qualifies for the latter. Kind of makes that previous video of the sports car drifting through walls look like child’s play, doesn’t it? Either way, the whole video certainly speaks for itself. Reminder: The BMW 1M Coupe is powered by a new twin-turbocharged, all-aluminum, 3.0-liter inline-6 engine that delivers an impressive 335 HP at 5,900 rpm and 332 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. It has a sprint time from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and a electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. The standing quarter-mile mark comes up in 13.2 seconds. | Video: Why did the Squirrel cross the road? Posted: 02 Jul 2011 11:00 PM PDT
We all know that one of the few reasons a chicken crosses the road is to get to the other side. However, more often than not, it’s a dog, duck, or even a cat that scurries across that same road to reach its destination. In this instance, the animal in question just so happens to be a furry little squirrel and his reason to get to the other side is far more death-defying. During the Ultimate Lamborghini Experience 4 in California, a squirrel was taking his chances crossing the road when a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV driving at over 100 mph zoomed down and just missed the furry critter. The squirrel was smart enough to slow down and let the Lamborghini pass right over it, but unfortunately, it wasn’t quick enough to tuck its tail in. Other than a shorter tail, the squirrel scurried away from the incident unharmed, but probably quite shaken. Reminder: The Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV is powered by a 6.5 liter V12 engine that produces 670 HP. This power allows the vehicle to make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 212 mph. | Video: Aprilia RSV4 vs Nissan GT-R Posted: 02 Jul 2011 04:18 PM PDT
Usually tests of this kind are made between two models from the same class. But this time the car put one next to each other a bike - the Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC SE and a sports car: the Nissan GT-R. The bike uses the most sophisticated set of performance-enhancing electronics ever fitted to a road legal motorcycle. The Nissan GT-R similarly relies on revolutionary electronic driver aids to set lap records the world over. Both vehicles in this race are completely stock down to the tires and piloted by professional racers. The question is who do you think will win in the end? Make a guess and then watch the video to see if you were right. We only have to tell you that the lap times in this video are for real. Enjoy! | Video: Roger Federer behind the scenes with SLS AMG Roadster Posted: 02 Jul 2011 04:09 PM PDT
The star in the Mercedes latest commercial for the SLS AMG Roadster features the famous tennis champion Roger Federer. And while for sure until now you have seen the commercial, now is time to see a few shots made "behind the scenes." Is true that Federer hs just lost Wimbledon quarterfinals, but when it comes about driving he surely acts like a pro. a top speed of 197 for a tennis-man is not bad, no? Short reminder: the Mercedes SLS AMG roadster version will be powered by a 6.3-liter V8 engine with 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. However, being a much heavier model, it will rocket from 0 to 60mph in 4.0 seconds before topping out at approximately 192 mph. And if you haven’t see it just yet, hit the jump for the Mercedes-Benz "Super Service" SLS AMG Roadster Commercial. | Video: Ferrari P4/5 Competizione At Villa d'Este Posted: 02 Jul 2011 04:06 PM PDT
Now that the Ferrari P4/5 Competizione made quite a sensation in the automotive world, the "Jim Glickenhaus" should say a lot to you as he is the man behind this impressive project. And now, Kinetic Fin takes you on a journey with Jim Glickenhaus as he pays homage to the way it was done in the 60’s when people just wanted to go racing. In this video you will see Jim and family to Italy for the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance. You will hear the car revving one more time, and as usual its engine sound is simple music to our ears. Pay attention to the second 5:05. Although we are not very sure how this could happen, it is quite an unpleasant situation for the supercar. But, at least the car is alive, so no damage was done! | Video: Police chase results in 37 bullets on an Audi R8 Posted: 02 Jul 2011 11:00 AM PDT
Remember that Porsche 911 we featured a few days ago with about 10,000 bullet holes in it? Despite its ramshackled state, we’re comforted knowing that the destruction of that 911 served a pretty good cause. This Audi R8, however, was doing nothing except being driven by a complete douchebag who thought that engaging the German police in a gun fight was a good idea. The scene plays out in Germany where an armed man began opening fire at the police after he was about to be questioned for a domestic dispute incident in his household. After seeing the officers in their patrol cars, the idiot began opening fire on them. In the course of the pursuit, the police managed to pepper the R8 with 37 rounds of bullets, four of which found its mark into the driver. Despite getting wounded, the driver managed to survive the whole episode where he was eventually arrested for all the trouble he caused. But where the driver escaped with his health intact, for the most part at least, the same cannot be said for the R8, which looked like it had far better days than this one.
